About Dr. Brooke Kistler

I grew up in Houma, Louisiana, surrounded by lots of family and lots of food. I spent a good portion of my childhood on the bayou where I developed a deep interest in nature, especially the critters/wildlife. I attended LSU for my bachelor’s degree in biology as well as vet school.

I always wanted to live in a beach town, so after graduation I moved to Pensacola, Florida. I practiced there for over 3 years before making my way to a busy rural clinic in Rayne, Louisiana, then finally, Lake Charles. I live here with my husband Cody, who is currently stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Station Lake Charles. We have one son, two dogs (a Pit bull and a Chihuahua mix), and two cats. In my free time, I enjoy fishing, gardening, cooking, and crafting.

I love veterinary medicine because no two days are ever the same. I enjoy getting to know clients and watching their pets grow up over the years. I have a special interest in surgery and exotic animal medicine. In this field there is always the opportunity to continue learning and growing in your skills and knowledge. I’m so happy to be working with passionate doctors and staff that see the value in this, and work hard to provide the best care available for our patients.
